The fundamentals of the M.M.A.S.T system (Mindset. Movement. Accuracy. Speed. Transition) is explained and practiced in this beginner module. The student will have to be vetted with a questionnaire and proper identification. The student must have a firearm safety certificate given from any gun store. This course is 8 hours with a minimum of 4 hours range/live fire time.
The instructor will have a minimum of 50 pistol rounds for the student. The student has to bring more ammunition if they wish to shoot more. We typically shoot 9mm and occasionally .40 caliber.
In this course the student will have a power-point lecture with videos and very important safety rules that must be internalized through dry fire and testing before the student can go out to the range.
The main subject in the classroom will be safety and Mindset techniques. At the range, we will start with safety procedures for the range and then proceed to teach shooting fundamentals. Once proficiency is reached we practice basic Movement techniques and blend in the tension between Accuracy and Speed.
The last 30 minutes of the course will be spent explaining what Transition means and the importance to survival in a gunfight. Although this course is mainly for beginners, the instructor may use elements of this course to tailor a course for shooters that are proficient at target shooting or have military and law enforcement experience but need an introduction to the M.M.A.S.T system.
